Title: Sustainable Energy system for Achieving Novel Carbon neutral Energy communities (SUSTENANCE)

Funding agency: European Union’s Horizon 2020 and Department of Science and Technology

Estimated project budget: 120,000 USD

Aim: To develop an efficient vertical-axis wind turbine (VAWT) to address the energy issues of Barubeda village in Jharkhand, India. This involves optimizing the turbine's design for effective power generation in rural areas with low wind speeds and exploring opportunities to enhance its techno-economic feasibility.

I have designed the VAWT and conducted aerodynamic simulations to evaluate its performance and select the most suitable rotor configuration. The global challenges of climate change, energy scarcity, and the increasing demand for energy in developing countries highlight the potential of renewable energy technologies like VAWTs, which offer advantages such as omnidirectional wind capture and simplified mechanical integration due to ground-level equipment placement.
